Cafe Sting - Valbergjet 3 - was told they have Readings, which I suppose means people stand up to read stories or maybe poetry some evenings, also listed under restaurants as Sting AS

Bevaremegvel - Skagen 12 - gourmet foods, http://www.herlige-restauranter.no/ or http://www.herlige-stavanger.no/ (my note, we had a meal here - chef's special 3 course menu, all gourmet & the veal tasted like beef...if you live here you know what it means...presentation lovely, we sat by the window & though table was small, enjoyed our meal & my spouse the wine selection - we didn't stay long enough for the live music later in the evening...was not a cheap meal, but the tastes & textures of all our courses was well worth it for a special occasion)
Big Horn Steak House Stavanger - Skanseg 1 - in the Victoria hotel, someone commented there's one also in Sandnes & to order you have a tic list you fill out & then am not sure if it's brought to you or you go to the counter to pick it up, http://www.bighorn.no/

Food Story AS - Hospitalsgata 15 - up from Klubbgata & Stavanger Storecenter where walkoverpass goes over the street, heading toward the red brick church/green steeple, on corner in an old white house (my note - have eaten here, organic choices & daily specials on chalkboard, some food items in the back on some shelves, see the kitchen over the counter & at our table we ordered the Foccacia sandwich sliced off a large square or a big bowl of salad full of different organic greens...was told it was very good, so were the sandwiches & coffees or teas...)

Harbour Cafe Stavanger AS - Skagen 27 - bowling alley inside (my note - did not know this & was told more than 1 or 2 lanes, but also means leagues to watch out for if you think you can just walk in...)
Harry Pepper - Ovre Holmegate 15 - Mexican (my note - which we were wondering if we'd find any good Mexican food, after being disappointed with Chinese/Japanese so far & though there are 2 India restaurants there seems to be differing opinions on both...I did not think that putting a name with Pepper sounded very Mexican, do you want to think of your hot pepper with hair on it? hmmm...)
Helt Ratt - Skagen 27 - Sushi maybe (my note - there were not good things said about this place, as in there have been past health concerns...have asked how to tell if a restaurant passes the country's health standards & where to go find this information out too? so, for now we're left hanging where to go find Good Sushi - without trying to make it ourselves?!)

La Piazza 0r Nye La Piazza or Restaurant/Ristorante Nye La Piazza - Rosenkildetorget 1 - in the same 200 yr old white house as the Stavanger - Chamber downstairs, & I think upstairs the mayor's offices, see reference on http://www.oregano.no/ Norges beste restaurant guide (my note - I've eaten pizza here & almost Italian, do have the thin crusts but don't offer olive oil to drizzle on nor Parmesan to sprinkle all over, though do serve for one person on a ceramic pizza dish sliced with knife & fork to eat it with & afterwards our Gellato desert was a bit overdone in presentation with the fruit & cream but still not too much when you share...someone else I know ate there as a couple & were pleased too...again in a part of the old house so wooden tables & chairs & the brass candlestick - which seems to be the eating out theme here in town - linens & art on the walls & was actually Italian music being played...from the speaker, was told it has the same owner they only changed the name to "nye" or "new"...)

Ostehuset Ost AS - Ryfylkegata - up from Klubbgata & up stairs, Organic foods I was told, (my note - ate lunch here yesterday & had a really nice hummus sandwich, you go up to order & they bring it to you like many a place here) has a warehouse or loftlike atmosphere, rows of tables or some small tables with booth seats on the back side, big windows only look down onto street or over to Stavanger Storecenter, also has gourmet foods on shelves & in cases to buy to take home, plus some modern dishware for sale (ie colorful decorated stackable espresso mugs)
